Telescopic Handler Operator Safety Training

Telescopic Handler and Rough Terrain Forklifts are part of the Class 7 group of material handling equipment and require specific equipment training to meet the requirements of CSA B335-04 and OSHA 1910.178.

The equipment safety training course for the Telescopic Handler and Rough Terrain Forklift is a one day program with 4 hours of classroom theory, discussion and a test of knowledge. This will be followed by a hands on review of the equipment operation and an operator skill proficiency review.

  • Attachments
  • Power train
  • Worksite topics
  • Steering options
  • Load chart usage
  • Capacity recognition
  • Operating instructions
  • Controls and instrumentation
  • Understanding the dynamics of stability
  • General hazards associated with operation
  • Unique operational characteristics of the equipment
  • Incident review and current applicable OH&S requirements.

This program will benefit all workers who may operate a Class 7 Rough Terrain Forklift or Telescopic Handler, as well as supervisors who are managing sites and owners of equipment.
